CREATURE
music & lyrics by:
Robert Harrison
(inspired by Shelley)
Frankenstein's creature wanders
the world alone.
*****
through a hole in the wall
he watches them all
singing songs near the fire
around the family fire
sparks in their eyes, their laughing eyes
and he wonders why
he has to lie
has to lie, all alone
all alone
and the creature groans
he turns aside
he dies
inside
the monster cries
he cries
inside
under the stars across the ice
he goes looking for his maker
wanders in and out of craters
till he finds his heartless maker
“frankenstein, i need a creature
i can’t go on this way
give me a friend to ride the waves
a companion to the grave
to the grave
to my grave”
in his yellow eye they did create
the murky glass they love to hate
the water’s shadows cast his fate
water falls too soon too late
across the ice
and arctic snow
the creature
goes and goes
his cratered heart
has turned to stone
and he knows
he’ll die alone
all alone, he will die
all alone
all alone
and the creature groans
all alone
all alone
all alone
all alone
